One more body has been recovered from the three-storey building that collapsed on Friday night while under construction in Yaba, Lagos.

The Acting Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, Mrs. Ibitayo Adenike, confirmed the development today, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Adenike explained that the recovery of the latest victim in the early hours of Sunday brings the total number of people affected to seven, three dead and four rescued.

She added that search and rescue operations are still ongoing at the site.

The building, located at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, collapsed around 8.30pm on Friday, trapping several people beneath the rubble.

Emergency responders at the scene include the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency, the Nigeria Police Force, and other relevant agencies.
