Anger in the Land: Ethnic Clash Claims 20 in Lagos, First Bank Looted as Mob Kills 2 Officers in Oyo

Ololade Adeyanju/

Twenty people were feared killed today and several others injured in ethnic clash at Fagba area of Lagos as criminal activities continued to claim lives and properties in some parts of Nigeria.

Reports say suspected hoodlums also burnt two policemen alive at Iwo Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, just as the First Bank branch at Fagba was looted by another set of hoodlums.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the slain policemen in Ibadan were chased from the New Gbagi market area. The assailants claimed that their van had hit a commercial motorcyclist.

They eventually caught up with the policemen at a barricade erected by #EndSARS protesters and dragged them out of their vehicle.

One of the officers reportedly managed to escape while the other two were burnt with their van by the criminals.

Hoodlums have been on the rampage burning police stations and other public utilities after hijacking the #EndSARS protest which has been on for 16 days.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to give a much-awaited national address at 7pm today.
