Deji Tinubu, the former Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission and Special Adviser to Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, died today after he slumped during activities at a retreat for State Executive Council members in Epe.

News of his death filtered out tonight on Facebook and Twitter as Lagos State officials kept mum and refused to pick calls.

Ovation publisher, Mr Dele Momodu, was among those who announced the death on Twitter.

The late Tinubu, a nephew of APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was recently redeployed from the state sports council to hold the post of Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce and Industry.

NewsmakersNG learnt that he slumped during a football match in the afternoon and was rushed to Epe General Hospital where he allegedly died.

The deceased was the son of the late Chief Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu and the younger brother of Oando CEO, Mr Wale Tinubu.

He is survived by his mother, the Iyalode of Lagos, Chief Bintu Fatima Tinubu, the widow, Yemisi, and the children.
