Justice Ledan Nyordee of a Port Harcourt High Court has fixed July 31 as judgment day in the alleged murder case of four students of the University of Port Harcourt, popularly known as Aluu Four.
Judgment will be delivered nearly seven years after the four students were brutally murdered by a mob, in Aluu, Rivers State, after they were falsely accused of robbery.
The victims had, reportedly, gone to the town to collect a debt from a fellow student, but their alleged debtor raised the alarm that the quartet were thieves that had come to attack him.
The false alarm attracted a mob that first paraded the victims naked round the town, before they were beaten and burnt to death in the presence of a policeman.
The victims, who were not found with any weapon, made desperate attempts to protest their innocence, but were ignored by the bloodthirsty mob
A police Sergeant and 12 other accused persons have been facing trial since December 20, 2012, over the October 5, 2012, alleged murder of the innocent students.
The court had discharged five of the accused, including the traditional ruler of Allu Community, in the course of the trial.
The four murdered students were, Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lioyd, Chiadika Biringa and Tekena Elkanah.
