Chief Bode George/
The passage of Alhaji Mohammed Gambo Jimeta at the age of 83 has robbed this nation of a man of outstanding patriotism and exemplary leadership whose professionalism was pure and untainted, stripped of any tribal coloration.
Our 7th Inspector General of Police served our nation with thorough dedication and selfless devotion to duty . He was an officer and a gentleman in the original sense of that well worn phrase.
Alhaji Gambo as he was popularly called was like a father to me who related with everyone with humility , with sincerity and with faithfulness of purpose.
He was kind hearted, warm, true to his friend and country, resolved on hard work and a genuine , noble vision.
He was an operations man whose tenure as our IGP witnessed the fighting spirit of a determined crime fighter who cleansed our nation from the scourge of armed robbers.
He would be missed for his courage, for his patriotic instinctiveness and for his moral uprightness. He served his nation well. His cause is fulfilled. His work is done. May he find peace and solace in the refuge of the Lord.
