South African-based architect and a member of the board of directors of Ala Resort, Arct. Bunmi Ilori, has won an award of excellence for his contribution to the practice of architecture in Africa.
Ala Resort is Nigeria’s first aerotropolis being developed at Akure Airport, in Ondo State.
The award was conferred on Ilori during the second edition of Mission Africa/Woman with a Mission Organisation (WWMRA) conference and awards held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 10-11, 2023.
Mission Africa/WWMRA was founded by Adasonla Victoria Temitope, a Nigerian-born pan Africanist, as a vehicle for realising her vision of effecting substantial change by promoting unity, driving policies, propelling ideas and expanding access amongst African nations.
Ilori is an architect of global repute, who cut his teeth with some of UK’s top firms. He also worked with reputable architectural firms in the US, where he delivered on numerous projects across Denmark and Spain. He worked briefly in Botswana before setting up his own firm in South Africa.
