The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, has died in Lagos just hours after attending a retirement and birthday ceremony.
NewsmakersNG gathered that Ayilara who also attended the wedding of IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s son at the weekend died earlier today at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where doctors are on strike.
A source told Gazelle News Online, “In fact, he walked into the hospital today for a surgery, but unfortunately, we lost him.”
A devout Muslim, Ayilara will be laid to rest today in accordance with Islamic rites.
