ABUJA — The political heart of Nigeria will play host to a gathering of distinguished leaders, policymakers, traditional rulers and intellectuals on June 11, 2026, as renowned accountant, former banker and legislative consultant, Joseph Maziri Andefiki, unveils his new book, Africa at a Glance, in Abuja.
The high-profile event, scheduled to hold at the National Assembly Library Trust Fund Multipurpose Hall within the National Assembly Complex, is expected to draw a constellation of eminent personalities from across the country.
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, will serve as Chief Host, while the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, is listed as Host. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, will attend as Landlord and Special Guest of Honour.
The event is being co-hosted by Hon. Jesse Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, member representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, under whom the author currently serves as Consultant on Legislative Matters.
Also expected at the ceremony are respected traditional and community leaders, including Ambassador Jameel Waziri, Mutawali Adamawa, who will chair the occasion, and Alhaji Isiyaku Ismaila, Sarkin Yaki Funange of the Fufore Emirate in Adamawa State, who will perform the official launch of the book as Chief Launcher, and Chief Johnny Ifeanyi Ucheaga who authored the forward of the book.
Adding intellectual depth to the event, the Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate, Barrister Chinedu Francis Akubueze, will review the book, while former National President of the Villanova Old Boys Association (VOBA), Dr. Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe, will present the publication.
The keynote address will be delivered by Bishop Edwin Musa Jarumai, National President of VOBA and promoter of the project. Religious leaders expected at the ceremony include Pastor Olusegun Rotimi, RCCG Assistant Regional Pastor and Provincial Pastor, FCT 9, and Mrs. Rita Maiyaki, who will serve as Mother of the Day.
According to the organisers, Africa at a Glance is conceived as a comprehensive reference work designed to provide useful and accessible information on contemporary African countries, their socio-political realities and development trajectories. The publication is also intended to serve researchers, students, policymakers and potential investors seeking reliable information about the African continent.
In a statement contained in the programme brochure, the author noted that the book seeks to simplify the study of African nations and provide readers with a one-stop source of information on countries across the continent.
Born in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Andefiki is an accountant by profession and a former banker. Over the years, he has built a reputation in public affairs and legislative consultancy, bringing his wealth of experience to bear in the compilation of the publication.
With an impressive roll call of guests and a subject matter that resonates with Africa’s growing importance in global affairs, the launch of Africa at a Glance is expected to be more than a book presentation.
