A bloody year has been predicted for 2019 if the Federal Government fails to take certain steps urgently.
Lagos monarch, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu, sounded the note of warning when the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, visited his palace on Lagos Island yesterday.
After receiving commendations from Idris for his constant partnership with the police, Akiolu warned that there must not be any shortcut in policing, as he lamented that the budget for the police is grossly inadequate.
He said, “Nigeria will burn in 2019 if the government does not fund internal security. This is because internal security operation is the entire responsibility of the Nigeria Police.
“Thus, they should be provided the requirements to do the job and the IG be given a free hand to run the force.”
