Ajimobi’s Burial will Not Hold Today – Aide

The late Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s Special Adviser on Media, Bolaji Tunji, has said that the burial of the former Oyo State governor will not hold today as earlier reported.

Being a muslim, many had expected that the politician who died yesterday would be buried today according to Islamic injunctions.

But Tunji in a statement today said the burial date would be announced later.

He also said the burial would an entirely private affair in line with COVID-19 protocols.

The statement reads, “With deep sadness and deep regret but in total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah, we announce the transition of His Excellency, Senator Ishaq Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi which sad event occurred after a brief illness on Thursday, June 25, 2020. He was aged 70 years. Funeral details will be anounced later.

“Kindly note: Burial will be strictly a family affair in line with existing safety protocol and will not hold today Friday.”

Ajimobi died at the First Cardiologist Consultant hospital in Lagos after a month long battle with COVID-19.
