The Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF) has donated a 500-seater auditorium built at the cost of N150 million to the University of Ibadan.

The foundation was founded by the immediate past governor of Oyo State, late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

The donation of the purpose-built auditorium is the latest in a series of philanthropic gestures the university has enjoyed from both the late Ajimobi and SAAF.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor K.O. Adebowale, who announced the donation in his speeche at the institution’s convocation ceremony, held on Wednesday, said the Department of Peace, Security and Humanitarian Studies also signed a MOU with the foundation on “collaborative research, conferences, seminars and training programmes”.

According to him, the donation of the auditorium, which will be inaugurated on December 16, was part of the terms of the MOU.

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that apart from the main auditorium, the building also has two syndicate rooms, staff offices among other facilities.

Ajimobi’s widow, Florence, was also one of the notable individuals honoured by Methodist Church Nigeria with a Wall of Fame at the Methodist Theological Institute, Sagamu, Ogun State, earlier this month, for their contribution to the growth of the institution.
