Police officers and men serving in Osun, Oyo, and Ondo states have been charged to be diligent, honest, hardworking, and carry out their duties with the fear of God.

The charge came from the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone XI which comprises Osun, Oyo and Ondo State Police Commands, AIG Leye Oyebade, mni, as he addressed personnel of the Zonal Command Headquarters, in Osogbo today.

Oyebade who frowned at acts of indiscipline among some officers said he would not condone any unprofessional conducts such as corruption and indolence. He added that any erring police officer found desecrating the image of the Force would be severely dealt with.

Speaking during the lecture, he reminded a cross section of police officers from the Operations Department, Admin, and CIID to be guided by their Code of Conduct and professional ethics.

The Police Chief also warned officers against infringement on the fundamental rights of the citizens in the course of performing their duties.

He said that officers in the CIID must always carry out a proper investigation and diligent prosecution of cases as well as understand legal issues and strive towards having evidential requirements for successful prosecution.

While assuring the officers of the determination of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, NPM, mni, to address welfare of the Police, he said there was need for training and retraining to build capacity of the police especially in the Zone.
