The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of operations, Mr Taiwo Frederick Lakanu has been assigned new duties as the AIG in charge of Zone 7 headquarters, Abuja.
Located in the North central Geo-political Zone of Nigeria, Zone 7 Command covers the Federal Capital Territory, Niger and Kaduna states.
With a combined police strength of about 34, 515 officers in the zone, AIG Lakanu will see to the protection of a population of about 11,422,012 based on the 2006 census figures.
Newsmakersng learnt that Lakanu, an accomplished crime fighter, always deliver wherever he finds himself.
Lakanu, who enlisted as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1986, rose through the ranks, holding positions in operations, investigations and administration.
