Nothing would have reflected the joy in the heart of newly-promoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sola Oketunji than the smile on his face that shone brightly like the Sun today as he was being decorated with the rank at the Zone 2 police headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

Oketunji was decorated by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Mr. Bode Adeyinka Adeleke, who was assisted by Commissioner of Police (CP) Yetunde Longe.

A seasoned detective and accomplished police officer, Oketunji who until now served as the second-in-command at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, had also served at the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi, Lagos.

While serving at the SCIID, he was one of the officers who suffered grievous bodily harm during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020 when protesters attempted to overrun the police formation, but his name was missing when other officers were compensated for their bravery.

Oketunji has been posted by IGP Alkali Baba Usman as the DCP in charge of the Special Enquirer Bureau at the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos.
