Fresh fear and grief have swept through Ahoro-Esinle community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State following reports that an abducted teacher, Mr Michael Oyedokun, may have been killed while in captivity.

The claim began circulating on social media on Sunday through posts alleging that Oyedokun, one of the teachers kidnapped during the recent attack on Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, had died in the custody of his abductors.

He was reportedly butchered by the abductors, with a video allegedly showing his decapitated remains later shared online.

A widely shared Facebook post described the development as a “breaking” tragedy, sparking emotional reactions from concerned Nigerians online.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Oyo State Government nor security agencies had officially confirmed the reported death.

Authorities also had not issued any statement verifying the exact circumstances surrounding the claim.

However, credible reports had earlier confirmed that Oyedokun was among teachers abducted when armed men attacked schools in Ahoro-Esinle and nearby communities on Friday morning.

Newsmakerslive.org reports that gunmen stormed schools in the Oriire axis on May 15, abducting teachers and pupils during coordinated raids that threw the rural community into panic.

Among those reportedly taken were the principal of Community High School, Mrs Alamu Folawe, Vice Principal Mr Ojo Jonathan, Michael Oyedokun and four other teachers.

The attack was said to have affected Community High School as well as nearby primary schools, forcing many parents to withdraw their children from classes over fears of further attacks.

In the days following the abduction, emotional videos surfaced online showing some of the kidnapped teachers pleading for help and appealing to the government to secure their release.

The Oyo State Government had earlier announced joint rescue efforts involving security agencies, Amotekun operatives and local hunters following the abduction.

Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said surveillance and rescue operations had been intensified in the affected areas to secure the release of the victims and prevent the attackers from escaping through forest routes.

The state government also reportedly ordered the temporary closure of schools in affected communities as security operations continued.
