Members of the 1983 Set of Anglican Grammar School Iju/Itaogbolu, Ondo State (AGS Itaju 83 Set), have presented cash awards to the top students of their alma mater for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The awards recognize students’ remarkable work, commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm toward their studies across all classes from JSS1 to SS3.
The presentations were made by Mrs. ‘Yemisi O. Olokose, Secretary of the AGS Itaju 83 Set, and Mr. Tayo Aladegbonmire, the PRO, on July 26, 2024, during the valedictory service for the outgoing students.
The recipients of the N10,000 cash gifts and commendation letters for their outstanding academic achievements include:
– Dosunmu Ayomide (JSS1)
– Adegbite Ogooluwa (JSS2)
– Abiodun Joshua (JSS3)
– Abiodun Oluwaferanmi (SS1)
– Olubodun Gbemisayo (SS2)
– Owolabi Fausat (SS3)
In their speeches, the AGS Itaju 83 Set representatives advised the students to avoid all forms of internet fraud and to aim higher in their academic pursuits. They also encouraged parents to support their wards in achieving their ultimate goals in life.
In the commendation letters to the students, signed by Mr. Segun Adeleye, President of the AGS Itaju 83 Set, he stated, “Your unwavering passion and hard work are the epitome of success, and your exceptional performance has significantly contributed to the success of our institution. Your dedication, attention to detail, and ability to strive for excellence make you stand out. We hope you keep up this good spirit and continue doing your best.”
The principal of the school, Mrs. Oludolapo Ayonike Daramola, who held her retirement ceremony on July 25, 2024, was also rewarded with a cash gift by the old students.
In her speech, Mrs. Daramola praised the AGS Itaju 83 Set, rating them as the best set produced by the school due to their generous gestures toward their alma mater. These gestures include repairing a once dilapidated science laboratory and distributing customized exercise books to all students during their 40th-anniversary celebration in 2023.
The event was filled with joy and appreciation as students and teachers expressed their gratitude for the visit and cash gifts. The teachers highlighted the impact of the AGS Itaju 83 Set’s contributions on the school’s development, noting that these efforts have significantly improved the learning environment.
The AGS Itaju 83 Set’s commitment to supporting their alma mater demonstrates the lasting bond between the alumni and the school. The alumni association plans to continue its efforts to support the school and inspire the students to achieve academic excellence.
