Facebook and Instagram are trending again on Twitter today for the wrong reasons.

Services on the world’s largest social media network, with nearly 3 billion monthly users, went down today as they did 20 days ago on March 20 and also in January.

According to Downdetector.com, Facebook started having problems at about 5:30 pm ET, when issues popped up on its apps – Messenger and Instagram around the world.

Many users saw the message “Sorry, something went wrong”, and on the app under news and groups, a message said the pages weren’t available and that it “may be because of technical error that we’re trying to get fixed”.

Twenty minutes later, Facebook started working for everybody.

The organization later issued emailed statement saying: “Earlier today, a configuration change caused Facebook services to be unavailable to some people. We quickly investigated and resolved the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

In January, many users were logged out of their accounts. Facebook said it was a configuration error.

The March incident was considered the longest outages in the company’s history. It was out for some users for more than 12 hours.
