IN the ever-expanding frontiers of the ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE market in Nigeria, AFRICAN GEM has come in from South Africa to be counted among Aloe vera plant medicine products. It stands out from the crowd in a number of ways…

1. PACKAGING:
It comes in a glass bottle as a thick or concentrated blend of Aloe vera leaf gel and six well-known medicinal herbs. Many Aloe vera products come in plastic bottles. Glass packaging is superior to plastic packaging because it eliminates the risk of soft plastic leaching plastic and petroleum residues into the content, thereby, in concentrated form, causing soft plastics toxicity or poisoning, especially if the excretory organs are incapable of eliminating them.

2. WAR- HEAD:
The six herbs which partner or collaborate with Aloe vera leaf gel in AFRICAN GEM as independent medicinal war-heads are…
a) African potato
b) Wild olive
c) Cancer bush
d) Wild Dagga
e) Citric acid
f) St. John’s wort

I humbly request that you kindly research the health benefits of these herbs, as I can only summarize them here.
a) AFRICAN POTATO
South African and other African herbalists use African potato to boost immunity, reduce swelling and high blood sugar, improve urinary flow in prostate gland conditions, improve skin health and eye health, especially in night blindness conditions, and to fight free radicals.

b) WILD OLIVE
Wild olive improves heart health, lowers blood cholesterol, reduces high blood pressure, combats inflammation and fights germs. Dr. Robert Atkins, of blessed memory, eulogized it for fighting fungal infections, especially those of systemic magnitude.

c) CANCER BUSH
Popular in South African herbalism for cancer therapies, it is still struggling to persuade researchers that it is an anti-cancer specific herb they are searching for, despite several proofs that it may very well be. Nevertheless, CANCER BUSH is reputable for specificity in downstream diseases such as those of the digestive, immune, nervous, and female reproductive systems.

d) WILD DAGGA
Also known as LION’S TAIL, it is popular in South Africa as a muscle, nerve, pain, stress and mood relaxant, anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling and expectorant, which recommends it for bronchitis, cough, phlegm and asthma therapies, among others.

e) CITRIC ACID
From citrus fruits such as tangerine, tangelo, orange, grapefruit, lime, sweet lime and lemon, among others, it improves mineral absorption, prevents kidney stones, provides antioxidants, boosts energy, fights germs and helps skin health.

f) ST. JOHN’S WORT
It is well known for pain relief, especially in neuralgia and sciatica (both nerve inflammation conditions), sleep disorders, anxiety and mood imbalances, especially in mild to moderate depression, and in menopausal hot flashes caused by hormone imbalances.

3. USES:
AFRICAN GEM is presented by the producers in its product literature as helpful in disease conditions such as: “…Arthritis, gout, HIV, ulcers, stomach pain, increased energy levels, diabetes and high blood pressure.”

From what is known of these medicinal plants, the list may be longer. I am surprised the presentation does not include detoxification and nurture. Aloe vera gel  is about 98 per cent water, no doubt. The two percent left over is a rich bundle of food and medicine. It is loaded with Vitamin A, B, C, and E.  It is also a rich source or minerals, especially, calcium, Magnesium, selenium, copper , Zinc, iron, Sodium, potassium e.t.c, all of which make it essential for electrolyte balancing and immunity boosting, to not mention amino acids. All the cells of the body are made from about 20 amino acids each of which are essential amino acids without which breakdown such as in HIV can occur. Aloe Vera gel contains 18 of these 20 amino acids and 7 of the 8 essential amino acids. Thus, what is in beef or meat or in chicken fresh that is not in Aloe vera gel… Or, shall I say, AFRICAN GEM? Using aloe vera leaf gel as inserts, do women who suffer from dryness in the secret place after treating candidiasis with harsh protocols such as golden seal root massage left overnight not experience tissue re-hydration, healing and regeneration in addition to improved  capacity to bear friction?

INTRODUCTION
I was introduced to Aloe vera gel therapy in the late 1980s by an article in THE KOREA HERALD ILLUSTRATED, a publication of the government of North Korea. The article centered on the health of a Korean gentleman who was reported to suffer from four terminal diseases, all of them inflammation-prone. One of these diseases was NEPHRITIS (inflammation of cells in the kidneys called nephrons). He lost one kidney to nephritis and suffered, also, from cancer in an organ I do not remember now. As he struggled on with his existence, nephritis struck the other kidney. This man thought the end had come. However, one of his friends told him about Aloe vera gel medicine. If he took the water extract of the gel several times in one day, the challenges could be overcome, the suffering and dying man was told. We have heard of such miraculous rebounds to health from serious cancers.

DR. GEORGE MALKHMUS fasted exclusively on organic carrot juice and eliminated a terrible stomach cancer. He went on to document his experiences in a book he titled HALLELUJAH DIET. This was the name he gave to a health farm which he founded to help sick and dying people regain their health and life on natural foods, and to train doctors and nurses who wished to incorporate natural medicines into their orthodox medicine practices. I followed him, as I still do, because the knowledge of THE NEW AGE and of THE COSMIC TURNING-POINT addresses human health in lectures about THE PHYSICAL HUMAN BODY. In these lectures are revealed some major secrets, even regarding cancers, relevant to contemporary experiences. One secret is that cancer cannot strike anywhere in the body of a person whose liver is optimally healthy and functional. Another is that: “NEITHER DRUGS NOR INJECTIONS, BUT THE RIGHT KINDS OF FOODS AND DRINKS BRING LASTING HEALTH.” We now know that bitter principles are friends of the liver, other organs, in fact of the entire body. Any wonder that, in their wisdom, Yoruba elders remind all and sundry: “OTA ENU NI ORE INU” (The tongue’s enemies are friends of the organs). AFRICAN GEM comprises many bitter principles!

YOHANNA BRANDT of South Africa was another gift to this generation of humanity. She, too, suffered from stomach cancer and exclusively fasted on GRAPEFRUIT JUICE to rescue her stomach from a cancer that had claimed about three-quarters of it. She documented her experiences in a book she titled THE GRAPE CURE.

The South Korean gentleman took Aloe Vera juice as he was advised by his friend. All his symptoms cleared over time, and his only kidney was saved as well. Happy, he planted Aloe vera on a large acreage of land and began to sell the harvest to his friends.
As reported in THE KOREAN ILLUSTRATED magazine, an American cosmetics manufacturer heard about him and began to order his Aloe vera as raw material for their products. Today, the Internet is awash with information on the medicinal and cosmetic values of Aloe vera leaf gel.

EXPERIENCE
I grow Aloe vera barbadensis in my home garden. I take the juice extracts on an empty stomach and with meals. I do not experience the symptoms AFRICAN GEM is said to prevent or to cure. Except for my vision challenge, I have been to no hospital in 30 years. For some persons who are conversant with Lagos (Google the distance), I still walk, aided though, from UNDER BRIDGE, IKEJA, LAGOS, to the GOVERNMENT SECRETARIAT, ALAUSA, without pressure on my ankles, knees, heart or lungs. My bowel motion is free and the voiding is sizeable. My urine flows freely. I occasionally deliberately do the walk to verify my health status. Even when I drink a sachet or two of “pure” water before bed, I rise from night sleep only once or twice to urinate. We have a lot to be grateful for about Aloe vera. It is a resilient desert plant which requires little or no water to grow and to flourish despite the scorching heat of the desert. This suggests that taking Aloe vera gel products can make our health resilient against the harshness of the environment. I have seen persons challenged with internal heat respond well to it. Ditto persons with liver, digestive system and kidney challenges. There is a lot more about Aloe vera gel and AFRICAN GEM that I would like to say but I am holding back to not be a bore. In this internet age, you are probably more competent than I am to research them, especially from clinical and research studies posted on PUBMED. I suggest, also, that you research the six herbs which are combined with Aloe vera leaf gel to form AFRICAN GEM. As a reminder, these herbs are: (a) African potato, (b) wild olive, (c) cancer bush, (d) wild Dagga, (e) citric acid and (f) St. John’s wort. You may wish to always have one or more bottles of AFRICAN GEM in your herbal medicines chest for prophylactic and therapeutic uses. In my bedroom, there is a wardrobe dedicated to all sorts of proprietary plant medicine blends. Who can tell what may happen at any time, especially in the dead of the night?
