Senator Ademola Adeleke was this morning sworn-in as the sixth elected governor of Osun State at an ongoing ceremony inside the Osogbo City Stadium.
Delivering his inaugural speech, Adeleke immediately announced the reversal of appointments and promotions made from July 7, 2022, by his predecessor, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Adeleke said all such appointments and promotions should reverse to status quo with immediate effect.
The governor also announced the freezing of all bank accounts operated by the state government and the establishment of a panel to recover all government assets illegally acquired by anyone.
He equally ordered the reversal of the name of the state from ‘State of Osun,’ which was adopted by the Rauf Aregbesola’s administration, to the original ‘Osun State’.
“I hereby make the following orders as the executive governor of Osun state:
“Immediate freezing of all government accounts.
“Immediate establishment of panel to recover all assets.
“Immediate establishment of panel to review all appointments since July 17th.
“Immediate reversal of our name to ‘Osun State’. All official documents should henceforth show ‘Osun State’ as ‘State of Osun’ is against the constitution of Nigeria,” the governor stated.
He also used the speech to highlight the socio-economic priorities and policies of his administration vis-a-vis the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party’s 5-point development agenda.
The occasion also marked the first public appearance of popular musician and the new governor’s nephew, David Adeleke, aka Davido, since the tragic death of his son, Ifeanyi, on November 1.
