Adeboye: COVID-19 Will Kill Only Those ‘Whose Time has Come’

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), today, said God told him not to worry about persons who would die due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adeboye in a sermon which was broadcast live to church members also said a lot of great things would come out of the COVID-19 lockdown, including the birth of many babies in 2021.

The cleric said, “I heard God speak to me clearly that I should not worry about those who will die due to coronavirus. He said those who will die are only those whose time has come.

“Are you not amazed at the number of people who have been recovered compared to the number of those who have died? All over the world, the number of those who have died is less than 10 percent of those infected.

“If you do a scientific research, you will realise that the number of people who have died due to coronavirus is lesser than those who have died because of accident, malaria or other means.”

On some of the expected fallouts of the COVID-19 lockdown, Adeboye said, “Let me warn pastors. Now I’m busy, you are resting. Early next year you too will be very busy.

“As a result of the lockdown, you will have a lot of baby naming ceremonies. You will be going from house to house naming new babies.”

The cleric also identified 10 things Christians should be doing to maximise the spiritual and physical blessings of the lockdown.

According to him, these include: rejoicing, praising God, praying, studying the scripture, meditating, receiving vision for the future, planning, cleaning up their houses, lightening their homes by giving out things they don’t need and praying for their pastors, including himself.

He identified David, Elijah, Joseph and John the Beloved among Bible heroes who became great during seasons of lockdown in their lives.

“David, Elijah, Joseph, and some others became great during lockdowns.

“Visions usually come during lockdown. Plan towards actualising the vision and when you finish planning, you need to hand it over to God,” the cleric said.

Adeboye further declared that God allowed COVID-19 pandemic because he wants to prove that he is the almighty, hence, the relatively low deaths rates recorded globally.

“God just wanted to prove that he is the almighty and that he can lockdown the whole world.

“I am appealing to those who haven’t given their lives to Christ. Love yourself by seeking him. If you find him, you will find life.

“And I am talking particularly to those who think they are big and mighty. Where is your bigness now; where is your mightiness now?”
