It was a day of love, culture, and celebration as families and friends from overseas and across Nigeria gathered at the 10 Degrees Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, to witness the Holy Matrimony of Odunola Olawumi, daughter of JAPAUL’s Group Managing Director, Deacon Akinloye Oladapo, and her heartthrob, Kingsley Chijioke Mgbachi, from Enugu State.

The union was a remarkable blend of Yoruba and Igbo traditions, symbolizing a love story that bridged a 422km distance between Modakeke, Osun State, and Enugu in the South-East. The couple, based in England, flew into Lagos with family and friends for a three-in-one wedding celebration featuring a traditional engagement, church wedding, and a lavish reception that stretched from morning till late into the night.

The traditional engagement, compered by renowned wedding hostess Mrs. Abimbola Folashade Akinwunmi of Ile Oko Ya Ventures, was a colourful affair spiced with songs, witty banter, and heartfelt moments. Each time she rendered the Modakeke anthem, “Sambada ni e lu fun, Modakeke lo ti wa,” the bride’s father danced joyously, soaking in the moment.

In a poignant highlight, Kingsley’s family bestowed upon their new bride an Igbo name, Akwa ugo meaning “The Eagle’s Egg,” and pledged to cherish her. Emotions ran high as Deacon Oladapo, overwhelmed with fatherly love, prayed over his daughter with tears, comforted by his wife, Pastor Toyin Oladapo.

Clergymen representing Bishop Felix ‘Remi Adejumo and Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo of Agape Ministries Worldwide officiated the solemnization. The couple exchanged vows, signed the marriage register, and received counsel on building a Christ-centred home. The service was lifted by the Agape Possibility Voices choir.

“Marriage is a blessing, not a curse. For your home to stand, let God remain at its centre,” the minister declared, quoting scriptures from Hebrews 3 vs 4, Proverbs 3 vs 5 – 6, Psalm 119 vs 105, and Matthew 18 vs 19.

The star-studded reception had Mr. Abiodun Jegede Paul, Chairman of JAPAUL Gold and Ventures Plc, presiding as Chairman supported by his wife – Bisi, while the Olona of Ada, Dr. Oyetunde Olumuyiwa Ojo, graced the occasion as Father of the Day. Guests were treated to exquisite dishes, endless drinks, and an electrifying after-party where the couple and their friends danced the night away displaying high energy and artistry.
