Abia State commissioner of police (CP), Mr Adeleye Oyebade has told Muslim faithful and other residents in the state that the police would continue to see to the safety of their lives and properties.
Oyebade gave the assurance in a statement issued today in preparation for Sallah break.
The statement signed by Abia police spokesman, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, says: “In the Command’s Security Calendar, it needs to be mentioned that every Month of the Year, whether “Ember” or “Festive”, are usually regarded as important. In that wise, the Command has put in place adequate security architecture, to cover all designated praying venues, motor parks and recreation centres, before, during and after this Id-el-Fitri Celebrations.”
He urged the Muslim faithful to “equally use this sober period of Sallah celebration to reflect on the Nation’s present economic and political position, and fervently pray for God’s intervention to make Government’s recovery plans effective, while wishing all and sundry a joyous Sallah Celebration”.
