Abia CP, Oyebade, Gets Continental Honour

Another feather was on Monday added to the cap of the Abia State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adeleye Oyebade.

Oyebade, who was recently acknowledged by the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, as the most outstanding CP on Security Reforms and Good Leadership in Nigeria, was bestowed with another award by the African Emerging Leadership Research and Development Organisation (AELDO).

The ceremony was held at the state police headquarters, Umuahia on May 15.

According to the presenters, the award was in recognition of what they described as Oyebade’s dedication and commitment to legitimate duty, as well as “his contribution to sustainable peace, stability and harmonious co-operation among diverse communities and ethnic groups towards a lasting solution to conflict and criminal activities in the Sub-Region”.

Receiving the award, Oyebade said, “I dedicate the award to the Almighty God, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, mni, NPM, the officers and men of Abia State Police Command and the general public.”

AELDO’s aims and objectives include: the promotion of human resources development and citizens participation in governance that will recognize discipline, integrity and positive values through training, seminars, workshops and research; the promotion of responsible and responsive leadership worthy of emulation, and the promotion of good governance in Africa.
