Assistant Commissioner of Police Chike Oti, who once served as the Lagos Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, has made a heartfelt appeal to the public as he battles a life-threatening health crisis.
Diagnosed with fifth-stage renal failure, also known as end-stage renal disease, Oti’s situation has become dire, with doctors recommending immediate and ongoing treatment.
The diagnosis, a crushing blow for the seasoned police officer, requires him to undergo haemodialysis twice a week just to stay alive. However, this is only a temporary solution. To truly save his life, Oti needs a kidney transplant—a procedure that will cost an estimated N25 million.
Appealing for help, Oti laid bare his plight. “My life depends on this transplant,” he said, his voice laced with urgency. “I am appealing to every compassionate heart out there to help me raise the necessary funds for this surgery. Without it, I have no hope.”
Oti, who has served the nation with distinction, is now in need of the nation’s help. The man who once worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of Lagosians now finds himself in a battle for his own life. His family and friends are rallying around him, but the financial burden is too great for them to bear alone.
As the clock ticks, Oti’s plea echoes across the country, touching the hearts of many. “I’ve always been there for the community, and now, I’m asking the community to be there for me,” he said, his words a poignant reminder of the fragility of life.
