The new Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Akwa Ibom, Mr. Charles Udoh, has formally assumed duties in the Ministry with a call for team work and proactive service.
Addressing staff in a maiden interactive session, Udoh said with its new nomenclature, “The Ministry now holds the compass of the present administration’s way forward and development -drive”. He called for all hands to be on deck for the actualization of the goals of the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led government.
The Commissioner who stressed that information is key in the development plans of government, urged staff to be alive to their duties as information managers by having information on their finger tips to sell the state to potential investors.
He noted that the task before the Ministry is onerous and implored staff to instil in themselves a positive mindset for their self development as well as maintain a positive perception of government to ginger in them the desire to contribute positively towards the development of the state for the overall benefit of all Akwa Ibom people.
Udoh frowned at what he described as “the campaign of calumny by some unscrupulous members of the society against the government and leaders of the state, past and present”. He charged all to desist from such acts as it affects the collective image of the state and the indigenes.
He said Governor Emmanuel was in a hurry to turn around the fortunes of the State and that of the Ministry of Information and Strategy in a positive direction and solicited the support and cooperation of all.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Pastor Praise Okon, who acknowledged that Mr. Charles Udoh is the first Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the State, welcomed him to the new Ministry and assured the Commissioner of the support of staff to bring the expectations of government into concrete reality.
Pastor Okon who expressed the delight of staff over the new appointment described Udoh as “a new brand in a brand new Ministry to give the Ministry a brand outlook”.
