Ishola Kamal, WASHINGTON/
In a key step toward strengthening economic ties, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer have met with U.K. Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds and Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Special Adviser on Business and Investment, Varun Chandra.
The high-level talks centered on a potential bilateral trade agreement following last month’s meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Starmer.
Secretary Lutnick emphasized the Trump administration’s commitment to securing a deal that lowers trade barriers for American businesses while fostering job creation and economic growth in both nations.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of bolstering critical sectors to ensure long-term prosperity.
With negotiations set to continue in the coming weeks, the proposed agreement could reshape transatlantic trade, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual economic benefits.
