A case of alleged deception has landed a woman in court after detectives from the Enugu State Police Command arrested and arraigned a 32-year-old suspect, Loveth Helen Alo, for falsely claiming ownership of a five-bedroom duplex in WTC Estate, Enugu.
Alo was seen in a viral video testifying at a Zion Prayer Ministry Movement Outreach event in Lagos, where she claimed that divine intervention had enabled her to acquire the luxurious property. The church reportedly displayed footage of the house while she testified.
In another widely circulated video, she allegedly stated that she purchased the home for ₦200 million.
Following a petition disputing her claims, police investigations revealed that the property did not belong to her. Upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to making the false claims without any accomplices.
On March 11, 2025, she was arraigned before the Enugu North Magisterial District Court on a five-count charge, including obtaining by false pretence with intent to defraud, defamation of character, and attempted fraud by allegedly trying to sell the property.
The court granted her bail, and the case was adjourned to April 9, 2025, for further hearing.
The Enugu State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe, has urged the public to be wary of fraudulent claims and report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
