Oyo State is on edge as reports of herdsmen violence continue to escalate in Ogunmakin, Gambari Reserve, and surrounding communities.

Disturbed by the increasing cases of farmland destruction, intimidation, and the use of weapons against farmers, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has called for immediate government intervention to restore peace and protect affected residents.

The lawmaker, representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, urged security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the crisis, ensuring that those responsible for the attacks are arrested and prosecuted. She emphasized that decisive action must be taken to prevent further loss of livelihoods and maintain order.

Recalling the resolution of the 2021 Igangan crisis—where anti-open grazing laws were enforced and security personnel were deployed—Akande-Sadipe insisted that similar measures should be implemented to address the current situation in Ogunmakin.

She further appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to provide immediate relief materials and financial support to affected farmers to mitigate their losses and help them resume agricultural activities.

In addition, she called for an on-the-spot assessment of the crisis, urging collaboration between the Oyo State Government, security agencies, and community leaders to develop a sustainable solution to the recurring conflicts.
