A 23-year-old salesgirl, Nifemi Friday, has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility by an Eti-Osa Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing goods worth N5.2 million and falsely accusing actress, Liz Anjorin and her husband, Lateef Lawal, of ritual killings.

The allegations stem from an incident that occurred on December 23, 2024, at Obas Mall in Okun Ajah, Eti-Osa, Lagos.

Prosecutor, Inspector Adeleye Ganiu, told the court that Friday, who worked at the mall, stole goods valued at N5.2 million.

To deflect suspicion, she allegedly circulated voice notes on social media, accusing her employers of being ritualists.

The voice notes, which were widely shared, claimed that Lawal and his wife, Liz Anjorin, were involved in ritual activities, an accusation that caused public unrest and tarnished their reputations.

Friday was arraigned on two counts of theft and conduct likely to breach public peace, offenses that contravene Sections 287 and 168(d) of the Lagos State Criminal Laws of 2015.

She pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Her lawyer made an oral application for bail, which was granted by Magistrate T.F. Oyaniyi in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties.

However, Friday remains in custody pending the fulfillment of her bail conditions.

Magistrate Oyaniyi adjourned the case to March 26, 2025, for further hearing.
