Adeniyi Oluwaseun, the acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, has died in a tragic incident on Sunday evening.
He reportedly jumped into a well at his residence in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, leaving his family and colleagues in profound grief.
Newsmakerslive.org learned that the tragedy occurred shortly after Oluwaseun had dinner. Sources revealed that the senior FMC official had been dealing with ongoing mental health challenges and had sought treatment in the past.
Oluwaseun, survived by two wives and three children, was preparing for a joyous family milestone, as one of his children was set to marry in a month. The timing of the incident has added to the family’s heartbreak.
Emergency responders recovered his body from the well, and it has been deposited at a morgue.
While the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, sources noted Oluwaseun’s prior struggles with mental health, though the specifics of his condition were not disclosed.
Segun Orisajo, the Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, confirmed the incident, expressing the management’s deep sorrow.
“It is true that he passed away. It was an unfortunate incident, and the management feels deeply saddened by this development,” Orisajo said.
Describing Oluwaseun as a hardworking and loyal employee, Orisajo noted that his sudden death came as a shock to everyone at FMC.
“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is an irreparable loss. The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” he added.
