Yomi Adetula, a prominent Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) prophet and an important figure in an ongoing legal case, was killed in a brutal attack on Sunday in Idiroko, Ogun State.
Adetula, who also served as the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling for the Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps, was murdered during a service at his church, located off Old Baggage Road, Ipokia Local Government Area.
Witnesses reported that the attackers arrived at the church around 10am armed with weapons. “They first tried to shoot him, but it didn’t work,” a local resident disclosed. “Then they used other weapons like hanmer and machete to inflict fatal injuries.”
Adetula’s death has sparked concerns about its possible connection to his role in a high-profile investigation into smuggling activities.
He had been named as a key witness in a defense case involving investigative reporting by Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ). The report, which highlighted allegations of illicit activities at border areas, had led to legal challenges.
The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attack.
