In a dramatic turn of events, a Chief Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM; and Abdullah Fasasi, Principal of Islamic High School, Basorun.
The trio were sent to Agodi Correctional Facility today over their alleged roles in the tragic stampede that claimed several lives in Ibadan.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi, handed down the remand order pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions in Oyo State’s Ministry of Justice.
The accused are facing a four-count charge, including conspiracy, acceleration of death, negligence causing harm, and failure to ensure proper security and medical facilities.
Tensions ran high outside the court as supporters of Oriyomi Hamzat flooded the premises, creating a volatile atmosphere.
A heavy security presence prevented the situation from spiraling out of control as patrol vans carrying the suspects sped away from the courthouse.
