The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the elevation of 27 senior officers during its second plenary meeting held today.
The promotions include 11 Commissioners of Police (CP) elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police (CP).
Among the newly promoted officers are Emmanuel Ighodalo, formerly Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (ZCID), Zone 8, Lokoja, and Abayomi Shogunle, who previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, in Osun State. Both officers, alongside others, are now poised to assume greater leadership responsibilities in their new ranks.
The 11 Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of AIG include:

6. Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, mni – CP, Ekiti State
7. Zubairu Abubakar – CP, Courses, Police Staff College, Jos
8. Fom Pam Joseph, psc (+) – CP, Homicide, FCID, Abuja
9. Emuobo Fred Ekokotu, fdc – CP, Admin, Airwing, Abuja
10. Garba Musa Yusuf – Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos
11. Abayomi Peter Oladipo – CP, Ondo State
The 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to substantive CPs include:

The PSC implemented written and oral examinations as prerequisites for the promotions, signaling its commitment to merit-based advancement in the police force.
DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), Chairman of the Commission, emphasized that officers must continue to enhance their knowledge and align with global best practices, particularly in ICT. DIG Taiwo Lakanu, who chaired the promotion interviews, urged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate unwavering dedication in their new roles.
The promotions are expected to inject fresh energy into the Nigeria Police Force’s leadership. As the plenary meeting continues tomorrow, December 17, the PSC reaffirmed its determination to foster professionalism and efficiency through timely and merit-based promotions.
