President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his excitement ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Nigeria, a landmark event as the first visit by an Indian leader to the country since 2007.
Tinubu, in a post shared on X, highlighted the significance of the visit and the opportunities it presents for deepening ties between the two nations.
“I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first visit to Nigeria, which is also the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to our dear country since 2007,” Tinubu wrote, emphasising his anticipation for the historic occasion.
The President noted that the bilateral discussions would focus on expanding the strategic partnership between Nigeria and India while fostering collaboration in critical sectors.
He expressed optimism about the potential outcomes of the talks, stating, “Our bilateral discussions will seek to expand the strategic partnership between both countries and enhance cooperation in critical sectors.”
India, which maintains strong economic and cultural ties with Nigeria, is one of the country’s largest trading partners.
Observers see the visit as a diplomatic milestone that underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as a hub for international partnerships.
