The World Poultry Foundation (WPF) has announced the release of free training materials designed to assist small-scale poultry farmers in Africa with the proper feeding and watering of their chickens.

According to a statement shared with NewsmakersNG, this initiative is part of WPF’s broader mission to support farmers in improving their farming methods and boosting their incomes.

The newly released training module is the latest in a series aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Africa’s small-scale poultry farmers. Available at no cost and in multiple languages, these resources are presented in various formats, including videos, infographics, and flip charts, making them accessible to a wide audience. The materials are intended for use by training and development organizations working with poultry farmers across the continent.

The module focuses on the critical aspects of ensuring that chickens have access to adequate food and water, which are essential for the birds’ growth and overall health. By equipping farmers with this knowledge, WPF aims to contribute to improved nutritional outcomes for families and communities, as well as increased income for farmers.

Randall Ennis, CEO of the World Poultry Foundation, highlighted the importance of this training: “This module is designed to help small-scale poultry producers grow healthy birds that improve the nutritional status of their families and communities, as well as improve their incomes. The launch of the series shows our commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable poultry value chains that benefit both farmers and consumers.”

Farmers and development organizations interested in these training resources can access them through the World Poultry Foundation’s website. The WPF encourages everyone to follow their social media channels for updates on training content and new translations as they become available.
