A Labour Party chieftain in Edo State, Chief Friday Toyin Ibadin, has called on the Federal Government to make a quick intervention on the failed Agbor-Uromi Road where motorists face hell every day.

Recalling how cars have been tumbling on the crater-ridden, muddy and flooded road, travelers stranded, and businesses grounded, Ibadin said that government should wake up to its responsibility on the Agbor-Uromi Road.

Ibadin, a lawyer and retired commissioner of police decried what he described as harrowing experiences on the Agbor-Uromi Road where it is becoming more and more difficult for motorists to pass through the road, especially the Agbor/Igbanke section, in the Ika-South local government area of Delta State.

The gridlock also spread to the center of Uromi town.

“I am calling on the Federal Government to come to our aid and fix this road which is so vital in enhancing the economy of the state,” Ibadin told NewsmakersNG.

The Trunk A national road that links Edo with other states has been rendered unpassable due to flood water from the Agbor-Obi area and its environs that finds its way beside Agbor Technical College to the road.

Vehicles are stuck in the sand accompanying the flood water, thereby forcing traffic to a standstill along the stretch, even as truck drivers spend days before the road is clear for them to continue their journey.

Those going to the Eastern parts from the Uromi Axis are left with no option other than to divert at Oligie-Igbanke, through to Mbiri-Emu communities to connect the Agbor-Asaba expressway.
