Eyewitnesses have told how the All-Progressives Congress (APC) primary election into the House of Representatives held at Igando in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos turned bloody and claimed some lives.

NewsmakersNG learned that the victims included the LGA Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and three others who were hacked to death in the free-for-all that began at about 3 pm at the Secretariat of Ikotun/Igando Local Council Development Area, where the primary elections were held.

Reports say there were two factions of the party for the two aspirants for the Federal House of Representatives seat in the Alimosho Constituency.

They were Prince Idris Balogun aka Oluomo and Ganiyu Ayuba.

Oluomo allegedly emerged from the Orelope faction while Ayuba was from Enilolobo with both having their loyalists on the ground.

An eyewitness, Tunde Adamson, said the election started smoothly until some armed thugs arrived at the venue, disrupted the process, and thereafter declared their candidate as the winner of the election.

“This resulted in crises as dangerous weapons were freely used despite the presence of security operatives,” he said.

One of the factions reportedly gained upper hand and stabbed two of its opponents simply identified as Zuri Boxer and Ogunlaye to death on the spot.

Ogunlaye was identified as the Zonal Chairman of NURTW in Alimosho.

He reportedly engaged two of his opponents, then attempted to escape over the fence of the Secretariat on noticing danger, but he was captured and stabbed to death.

One unidentified victim was also allegedly stabbed to death, while two other others were battling for their lives as at the time of filing this report.
