Officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in Lagos have been charged to uphold discipline, professionalism, integrity, image building, and dedication to duty.

The charge came at a New Year prayer and special meeting held by Commandant Emeka Okoro of the Lagos State Command.

A statement issued by NSCDC spokesman in Lagos, ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, says: “In line with the charge of the Commandant General (CG) Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, on discipline, training and retraining, professionalism, proactive intelligence, ethical conduct of officers and men of the Corps amidst others, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro Msc ACMA CNA, deemed it fit earlier today, Thursday, 6th January 2022, to host the Management staff, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Head of Departments and Units, Tactical and Operational Commanders, Officers – in – charge and the junior staff of the Command, in a programme termed to be a “New Year  Prayer, Special Meeting with Management Staff and Interface with Junior Staff.”

Abolurin added that the Commandant seized the opportunity to welcome the Management Staff, senior officers, and men of the Command into the new year 2022.

He stated, “The Commandant also assured the officers and men of the Command, of the Commandant General’s (CG) Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, unwavering readiness and resolve towards the optimal improvement of the welfare of staff now and throughout his administration by the Grace of God.

“The New year Prayer and Meeting which was held at the Pavilion, Lagos State Command Headquarters, Alausa, Ikeja, commenced by 10:46hrs today. The event also featured about 10 specialized intercessory prayers: for Thanksgiving, confession of sins, Divine Empowerment, Prayer for Nigeria, prayer for CG and NSCDC NHQ Abuja, Zone A Lagos, Lagos State Command, Area Commands and Divisions, Departments, Units, and Beats and Commandant’s prayer for individuals.

“Immediately after the prayer sessions, Commandant Eweka Okoro, in his opening address was elated and amazed at the high – level of dedication brought to bear by the officers and men of the Command, in the previous year, which made the Command score a high rating at the National Headquarters last year and as such charged them to do more in the new year, in order for the Command to be well rated and commended again.

“In the same vein, during his charge to the Management Staff, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers, Head of Departments and Units, he directed them to focus on ensuring the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure belonging to government in the state, Intelligence Revamp, Discipline, Training and Retraining of Personnel amidst others, in line with the CG’s directive.

“Commandant Eweka also lectured the officers and men of the Command on the Code of Conduct and the Standard Operating Procedure of the Corps. Moving forward, he charged officers to study them properly and be guided by the principles therein, amidst other relevant laws and ethics governing the Corps.

“More so, he vowed to sustain good leadership style, in a bid to improve upon the already established excellent security architecture in the state. He also said that Lagos is known for excellence and as the state of excellence the Command will continue to render excellent security services, in the state, in line with the statutory mandate and functions of the Corps, in the year 2022.

“The Commandant, NSCDC Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Okoro also had an interface with the junior staff of the Command, in a session specially dedicated to them at the event. He appealed to them to maintain the high spirit of hard work already in existence amongst them as that will result in maximum impact in securing the state at large. He also passed other good messages of the CG to them and assured them that the Corps placed a greater value on them with uttermost delight.

“Finally, Commandant Eweka Okoro used the opportunity to avow his unflinching commitment, to ensure the improvement of the security architecture and give a new impetus to the business of security in the state. He also appreciated the Lagos State government for their support to the Command in the previous year and solicited for more support from the government, to enable the Command to perform more effectively and efficiently, in the state in the new year.

“Nevertheless, he charged the officers and men of the Command on discipline, professionalism, image building, integrity, passion, moderation, loyalty, emotional intelligence, humility and dedication to duty amidst others.”
