The American government has approved the establishment of Ifa University with accredited degrees in Ifa and Orisa studies, the Ajagunna Oodua of Yoruba land, Prof. Babalawo Kola Abimbola revealed at a conference held in Brazil on Saturday.

He revealed that a bachelor’s degree, BA (hons), in Ifa and Orisa studies are now being offered at the newly accredited Ifa University in the United States of America.

Ajagunna Abimbola described Ifa University as a pride to the entire Yoruba race.

According to him, the Institution is running a 4-year program in Ifa and Orisa studies, and bachelor’s degrees in various areas of Ifa and Orisa would be awarded to students after the course.

“Ifa studies in an American University is a gain to the entire Yoruba race. I shall continue to include, promote our Yoruba heritage wherever I find myself. I have worked, really hard, to get this Ifa University approved. I thank Olodumare for making it possible,” he said

At the Yoruba conference coordinated by the Nigerian artist and writer, Adeyinka Olaiya, Ajagunna, a Professor of Philosophy at the Howard University in the United States of America urged Yoruba people around the world to unite. He also urged them to learn Ifa philosophy, pointing out that proper knowledge of Ifa would “help better our conditions”.

He called on scholars to check through the University website ‘Ifa University’ and encourage others to study Ifa and Orisa. He said that it would “mend our broken bones; it will fortify our beliefs; it will improve the Yoruba race”.

The event which paraded dignitaries from Brazil and around the world also featured a live music session from KFA Valentine, the acclaimed Fuji King in Brazil, Oba Adekunle Aderounmu, Oba-birin Ajetoke, Olori Ladun Orolugbagbe, Princess Adedoja Ogunwusi, Comrade Lawrence Idowu, Prince Adeniyi Adeniran and several other notable participants.

The Ile Oodua war general said he was ready to defend the Yoruba race with intelligence and commitment, adding that the struggle “is collective and it shall be a victory to the Yoruba race”.
