Eleven Nigerian artists are set to take art lovers in Lagos on a 6-day voyage of discoveries starting on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 3b, Thompson Avenue, off Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
According to the curator, Franklin Oyekusibe, the exhibition entitled ‘The Discovery – Scenes from Everyday Life’ is a project of NK Art Showroom, supported by the Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon Art Foundation (OYASAF) – a non-profit organisation established to promote the appreciation and study of Nigerian Art, Artists and Culture, and the Nike Art Centre, one of Nigeria’s leading art galleries.
It will feature male and female artists from diverse backgrounds, genres, and specializations, namely: Albert Ohams, Hakeem Salaam, Hamid Ibrahim, Nancy Keshy, Wallace Ejoh, Ikechukwu Ezeigwe, Bede Umeh, Onyinye Ezennia, Luke Osaro, Idowu Sonaya, and Chinyere Ibenye.
Oyekusibe, who is the CEO of PicturesQue Studios, described the show as a harvest of colours, shapes and masterly strokes.
He stated: “The show, which features Works from eleven Nigerian Visual Artists will open to the viewing public from 12.00 noon ‘till 7.00 pm at 3b, Thompson Avenue, off Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. The artworks, which are on offer for sale – Paintings, Sculptures, Photography and Mixed Media, will remain on display daily through Friday, 24th, 2021, from 9.00 am.
“It is the first edition in an initiative aimed at supporting African Artists and helping the world appreciate the boundless creativity expressed through their work. The Convener, youthful Nancy Tobi Keshinro, CEO of NK Art Showroom, Visual artist, and professional Fashion Model, who also showcases her work in the exhibition, envisions her art marketing company as a critical link in the dynamic ecosystem comprising Artists, Art Galleries, and the Art Collectors. She aims, through successive shows as this, to complement the role of established galleries worldwide by utilizing dynamic viewing spaces and technology to bring artists and their work closer to the marketplace. In her words: “This is the first exhibition and the title ‘The Discovery – Scenes from Everyday Life’ has been carefully chosen to reflect the influence of the environment on creativity and our cultural heritage. My motivation is the love for arts generally and that passion leads me on to help artists promote their work.”
