The police in Lagos have announced the arrest of 27 suspects from various dark spots after a raid on Thursday and Friday.
According to the Lagos State police spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrest was made by RRS officers as a follow up “to the directive of the Commissioner of Police to the Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to place certain spots under surveillance and dislodge the criminals hibernating in the spots especially at Ikeja, Agege and Alimosho areas of Lagos State”.
Adejobi told NewsmakersNG in a statement: “Sequel to the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, to continually take anti-crime fight to the dens of criminals and miscreants in the state, the Police Command has arrested 27 suspects in a planned raid of different black spots in the Lagos metropolis between the late hours of Thursday 4th and early hours of Friday 5th February, 2021.
“…The raid was also extended to Ile Zik, Dopemu under Bridge, Shasha, Orisunmbare, Iyana – Ipaja Underbridge, Ile-Epo, Abule Egba, Isokoko, Alfa Nla, Capitol Road, Akilo, Marketing, Alausa Central Business District among others.
“Those arrested included Olajide Kolawole, m, (26), Kehinde Ayoola (25), m, Dola Abdullahi (20), m, Michael Ogungbade (19), m, and 23 others.
“CP Hakeem Odumosu noted that the command will continue to intensify efforts to reduce incidences of traffic robbery, cultism and other social vices within the state, to their barest minimum.
“While commending the operatives for the successful operation, CP Hakeem Odumosu advised parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards on the company they keep as cultism and traffic robbery remain unpardonable crimes which will not be overlooked or spared as they attract stringent punishments in the law.”
They should not forget to come to Ikorodu, beginning from Ogolonto, stretch to Ayangburen/General hospital, and Sabo area; the entire area is becoming notorious of operations of both armed robbers, and cult boys. One of their instruments of operation is the use of Okada. Their operating time is mostly wee hours of the day 5am and from 7:30pm.
