The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has been suspended from office.
This development followed his arrest by security operatives in Abuja, who forced him to appear before a presidential panel probing allegations of corruption and insubordination levelled against him.
NewsmakersNG learnt that Magu’s suspension was not an indictment but a necessary step to ensure he does not tamper with evidence.
The panel headed by Justice Ayo Salami (rtd) questioned Magu for about six hours yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja before he was taken into police custody.
The presidential panel has resumed sitting today at the same venue.
