Members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 today met with President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Details of the meeting were not made available to journalists but the task force was expected to update the President on efforts made so far to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

It was also expected to suggest the way forward to the President, as the second phase of the lockdown imposed by the Federal Government expires tomorrow.

Members of the task force who met with the President included the chairman, Boss Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; the committee’s coordinator, Sani Aliyu; Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire; and the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu.

Nigeria recorded its highest daily tally of new infections yesterday with 553 cases.
