Nigerian football legend and former Super Eagles Captain, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, has called to boost the morale of David Makinde, the 8-year-old Nigerian soccer sensation in Brazil.
Okocha, who spoke with Makinde on the phone after reading NewsmakersNG’s report of the Wonder Boy, commended him for his skills and advised him to continue to do Nigeria proud in Brazil.
Jay Jay Okocha in a video chat at the weekend also urged Makinde to follow the footsteps of great Nigerian and Brazilian footballers who did their countries proud. He asked the young footballer to continue playing with happiness and simplicity, to be humble, respectful and obedient to his parents and to everyone around him.

David Makinde’s soccer skills have drawn the attention of great European football giants including Barcelona of Spain. He was born in Brazil to a Nigerian father from Ile-Ife, Akeem Adeyemi Makinde, and a Brazilian mother, Helaine Makinde. He won the hearts of Brazilian football fans with his outstanding dribbles, and he is considered as another Neymar Jr in the making.
Apart from Jay-Jay Okocha, NewsmakersNG learnt that several other international football stars have also called to encourage Makinde.
