A pastor who allegedly defiled the child of a member of his congregation in Edo State and an Islamic cleric accused of raping a girl inside a Lagos mosque have been held by the police.
Pastor Kingsley Emeka Mokwunye, the Head of Amagba community branch of Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel, in Benin, Edo State, was accused of defiling the 17-year-old daughter of one of the church members.
The police revealed the other victim as a person living with disabilities and she is undergoing treatment after she was allegedly defiled last Monday by a 27-year-old Alfa at a mosque in Ilasa area of Lagos.
The suspect was identified as one Alfa Mukaila.
The case was reported at Area ‘D’ police station, Mushin.
“The perpetrator took advantage of the girl not considering that she has some form of deformity and raped her. The girl’s mother took her to the General Hospital where she was checked and treated,” the police told NewsmakersNG.
NewsmakersNG learnt that Pastor Mokwunye was arrested along with his wife, Cynthia, who was accused of not taking the right step when she discovered the abuse.
“She only challenged the girl to come to her house and make the allegation before her husband,” the police said, adding that further investigations would determine her culpability.
