Eight suspected internet fraudsters have been held by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during a raid at Olopomewa, Eleyele and Ajadi, Ologuneru areas of Ibadan, in Oyo State.
According to EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, the operatives picked-up the suspects following several months of discreet intelligence follow-ups and rigorous investigations into alleged clandestine fraudulent activities of obtaining money by false pretenses from their victims within the Ibadan axis of the South West zone of the country.
The suspects who are between 19 and 36 years old were identified as Olawale Jamal Ajao, Ominiyi Babatunde, Oluwasanmi Oluwaseun, Akinyemi Toheeb, Olawale Joel, Tayo Yusuf, Yusuf Babatunde and Okolaba Emmanuel.
Phones, laptops and some documents were reportedly recovered from the suspects.
The Head of Operations, DCDS Friday Ebelo, said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
