In the quest for a peaceful political transformation in Nigeria, the Brazil chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a devotional interfaith prayer session for Nigeria yesterday in the Latin American nation.

At the event held at the conference hall of the International Gran Corona Hotel, Sao Paulo. Brazil, the President of the PDP chapter in Brazil, Hon. Innocent Ebere Ukanyirioha mentioned reasons why Nigerians in the diaspora should embark on very serious and constant prayer sessions for  Nigeria to scale through this very difficult moment of its political transition.

Ukanyirioha welcomed all the religious leaders at the occasion, the Imams, pastors and the African prayer groups. He referred them to the popular saying that “when two Elephants fight, the grass suffers”.

He urged every Nigerian in the diaspora never to consider any political affiliation but pray fervently for the fatherland, as he concluded his welcome speech quoting the party’s slogan “Get Nigeria working again”.

Opening the devotional prayer session in Islam, the Chief Imam of the African mosque in Sao Paulo, Imam Yaya did not only recite the Islamic holy book but also read Bible verses to fortify his prayers for God’s guidance over Nigeria throughout this period of its political transformation.

The spiritual leaders present at the joint session included Pastor Chukuemeka Ujor, Pastor John Nwokorie and several other invited men of God.

The Association of the Nigerian pastors in Brazil through its representative called for a united Nigeria and also conducted a prayer session with joint prayers from the men of God,

Pastor David Kennedy, Rev. Father Chinaka Justin Mbaeri and other important members of the association were present at the occasion.

While introducing the prayer groups for the interfaith prayer sessions, Alhaji Akeem Akinola Apena, the Vice President and Secretary General of the PDP Brazil chapter called on every Nigerian in Brazil to appeal to their families back home to ensure they all fulfil their civic duties on February 16, 2019.

The event was the first of its kind in Brazil and it also drew Nigerian actor, director and film producer Mr Chifex (Afrolinks media and entertainment); Chief Beruck Chikaeze Nwabasili, Chief I.k Innocent, Mazi Emeka Izuogu, Arch Val. Eke; Chief Ibinna Nkekechi, Mr Godfrey O. Achinefu, Mr Christian Onyekachi Iroanya, Mr Lawrence Obi, Mr Ben Uzo Agbodike, Mrs Florence Ugomma Chimezie (Women leader PDP Brazil); Igwe Tony, Mr Bona; Mr C.J Onyenche, Mr Ayola Abdu, Mr Stanley Nkem, Hycinth Highman, Mr John Iwu, Chief Chima Onyeisintuaja, Dr Alexcoleman, Mr Dim Austin, Dr Chukwudi Theodore, Mr Ichie Austin Obi, Arch. Michael Adeyemi and Engr Ikenna.
