President Muhammadu Buhari had a lot to say at the weekend after finally dispelling the rumour that he had been cloned.

The President reportedly addressed the rumour which had been making the rounds since he returned from his last treatment abroad during a town hall meeting with Nigerians in Poland today.

Buhari said in a video of the town hall meeting posted on Twitter by his Special Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, that a lot of people had wished him dead during his illness.

But the President did not stop there as he also took to his verified Twitter handle, @MBuhari, to reveal some of the shenanigans that took place while he was on his sick bed in London.

He said that some politicians who believed he was going to die had begun lobbying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to be considered as his vice when he became the President.

The President wrote: “One of the questions that came up today in my meeting with Nigerians in Poland was on the issue of whether I‘ve been cloned or not. The ignorant rumours are not surprising — when I was away on medical vacation last year a lot of people hoped I was dead.

“Poor @ProfOsinbajo, even he had to deal with the rumours — Some people reached out to him to consider them to be his Vice President because they assumed I was dead. That embarrassed him a lot; we discussed it when he visited me while I was convalescing.

“I can assure you all that this is the real me. Later this month I will celebrate my 76th birthday. And I’m still going strong!”

The President also tweeted a video of his meeting with Nigerians in Poland.

Rumour had been making the rounds that President Buhari had died and that he had been cloned.

According to the rumour mills, President Buhari was actually Jubril from Sudan who is now acting as Nigerian president.

The President reacted to the rumour for the first time on Sunday in Poland where he is attending Climate Change conference.
