Barely 48 hours after a civil defence corps member shot a civilian dead in cold blood, in Lagos, Customs Officers in the state toed the same path on Tuesday killing a woman in Badagry.

According to the police, seven customs officers have been arrested over the killing of one Mrs Patience Oni.

The customs officers also allegedly injured an innocent man at Forte Oil Filling Station, near popular Badagry Roundabout in Lagos.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Badagry, Mr Samson Akhiromen, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry that the customs officers were arrested for indiscriminately shooting and killing of innocent people.

According to the DPO, the customs officers, under the code name Anti-flying, were raiding an illegal rice depot near a filling station around 12 noon on Tuesday, when they started shooting.

He said, “They started shooting indiscriminately to scare away traders and residents from the area.

“During the shooting, the bullets from one of the officers hit two people, one died immediately, while the other one is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

“The husband of the woman killed is a police inspector serving in Area K Police Station, Morogbo.”

The DPO said that he arrested the suspects with his team of officers when the situation was getting out of hand.

He added that the arrested officers had been handed over to the SCIID Panti for further investigation and prosecution.

An NSCDC personnel identified as Osho Kehinde, shot dead one Abdulquadri Taofeek Omotolani on Sunday. The incident happened in Ile-Epo area of Abule-Egba, Lagos, when Kehinde and one Ohiafi Tunde a Chief Corp Assistant who were allegedly smuggling fuel, shot the man who got in their way.
