Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election, Peter Obi, as an “ethnic bigot”.
El-Rufai in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, @elrufai, said the former Anambra State governor once justified his detention in Anambra State by the State Security Services (SSS) in 2914 on the ground that he had no business in a state in the south-east as a northerner.
El-Rufai, who was reacting to another tweet by a group called Coalition of Buhari-Osinbajo Movement, said he later sued the SSS and was awarded two million naira damages.
El-Rufai tweet reads: “Obi is a tribal bigot. He was widely quoted on national television that the SSS was right to detain me for 48 hours in an hotel in 2014 on the grounds that ”El-Rufai has no business being in Anambra State as it is not Katsina State”! I sued the SSS and awarded N4m damages.”
The earlier tweet by Coalition of Buhari-Osinbajo Movement, on its handle, @Cobom2019, reads: ”In a swift moment of needless impulse, Peter Obi bundled some northerners, mostly those who engaged in menial jobs for survival & marched them in trailer load back to their base. To him, these guys had no business being in Anambra State.”
The tweet by the group was also a reaction to an article in Leadership newspaper, entitled, ‘Peter Obi, Ghost ot the Past and Reality of Today’.
